GSI won six more 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs from Hyundai GLOVIS

In mid-May, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation, together with China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC), signed another order for six 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel pure car and track carriers (PCTCs) with Korea’s Hyundai GLOVIS CO.

The PCTC is jointly developed and designed by GSI and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) in accordance with the customer’s demand for new energy vehicle marine transportation and the latest energy-saving and emission reduction, and it is also the largest and the most advanced dual-fuel PCTC at present.

Together with the latest order, GSI has received orders for a total of 39 car carriers with 335,800 transport parking spaces with its own technological advantages, and continues to be the first in the world in the number of orders received in this market segment.

In recent years, with the profound changes in the global automobile trade pattern and the increase in market demand for new green and environmentally friendly capacity, China’s shipbuilders, represented by GSI, have shown their skills in the PCTC market, and have undertaken a total of more than 100 orders for new automobile carriers, making outstanding contributions to the prosperity of global automobile trade.

Since 2023, based on the previous 7,000 CEU and 8,600 CEU series of large car carriers, GSI has cooperated with a number of high-end customers, and has taken batch orders for 8 environmentally friendly and energy-saving 10,000 CEU class dual-fuel PCTCs.

The above six 10,800 CEU dual-fuel PCTCs are the successors of the same series, making GSI’s batch undertaking environmentally friendly and energy-saving 10,000-CEU-class dual-fuel PCTCs to 14.

This batch order for 10,000-CEU-class PCTCs enables GSI to continue to lead the global car carrier market. At present, GSI has delivered more than 35,000 transport parking spaces, which has greatly alleviated the shortage of capacity in the global car transportation market.
