XSI receives order for up to four 113,600DWT dual fuel tankers

On May 21st, Fujian Shipbuilding’s Mawei Shipbuilding together with its Xiamen Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (XSI) and Union Maritime Limited (UML), a British shipowner, held a signing ceremony to sign a contract for the construction of 2 113,600 DWT (LNG) dual-fuel oil tankers with a option order for another two units.

It is a renewed cooperation between UML and Fujian Shipbuilding after the 18,500 DWT tanker project, and this 113,600 DWT LNG dual-fuel oil tankerss will all be built and delivered by XSI.

UML is a UK-based ship owner and operator with a diversified fleet of assets and a large fleet of vessels covering crude oil, gas, clean products and dry bulk. The company is committed to providing end-to-end solutions to its customers for their maritime logistics needs. The company has a number of subsidiaries whose activities form part of its supply chain or business and has branches in several countries.

Designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), it is a dual fuel propelled Aframac tanker with double bottom and double hull, single engine and single propeller.

With an overall length of about 249.9 meters and a beam of 44 meters, this oil tanker has a deadweight of about 113,600 tons. It meets the NOx TIER III emission standard and is characterized by energy saving, environmental protection and strong adaptability.

After delivery, the oil tanker will be mainly used for carrying crude oil and product oil. It is the largest vessel undertaken in Fujian Province in terms of both size and deadweight tonnage up to now.
