GUMECO Wins Design Project of Hong Kong Explosives Cargo Carrier

Recently, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)’s Guangzhou Marine Engineering Corporation (GUMECO) has successfully won the detailed design project for the Hong Kong explosive cargo carrier.

It is a single-hull high-speed dangerous goods carrier, which can safely navigate under class 6 sea state and class 7 wind. The explosive carrier is about 33m long, 7m wide, 3.6m deep with a maximum speed of 18.5kn.

Equipped with two cargo holds, each of which is designed to be anti-static and explosion-proof, the explosive cargo carrier is capable of carrying Class I dangerous goods.

After completion, the new shipbuilding will serve Hong Kong waters, carrying explosive cargoes for the Hong Kong Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) for engineering construction and mountain development.

The undertaking of the design contract of the explosive cargo carrier will fill the blank of GUMECO’s design and development of the small class I dangerous goods carrier.
