Asia’s 1st cylindrical FPSO loaded onto carrier for installation

May 12, Asia’s largest semi-submersible vessel -flagship semi-submersible vessel of COSCO Shipping Group “Xin Guanghua” successfully loaded China’s independent design and construction – Asia’s largest Cylindrical FPSO “Haikui No. 1”.

It is reported that “Haikui No. 1” integrates the functions of crude oil production, storage and offloading, which is the world’s first “digitized” cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) integrating multiple systems such as marine integrated monitoring system, data integration platform and health management system for machinery and equipment.

“Haikui No. 1” consists of two parts: the hull and the upper functional module, which are composed of nearly 600,000 components. It has a maximum storage capacity of 60,000 tons, and is designed in accordance with harsh sea conditions, with a design life of 30 years, and can be operated continuously at sea for 15 years.

COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Group, provided turnkey transportation services for the COOEC’s Liuhua FPSO project.

The 100,000-ton “Xin Guanghua” is the flagship of COSCO Shipping’s special cargo semi-submersible vessels, with a wonderful resume and rich experience in shipping super large, super heavy, super high and super long cargoes for many times.

It has successfully undertaken China’s first FPSO turnkey project “Xiwang 6” and the world’s first 100,000-ton deepsea semi-submersible oil storage platform “Shenhai Yihao” hull project, making it the most preferred choice for loading “Haikui No. 1”.

It is reported that “Haikui No. 1” will go to the Pearl River Estuary (PRE), which is more than 1,200 nautical miles away from Qingdao, and will be able to handle about 5,600 tons of crude oil per day. The Liuhua field secondary development project is the first “deepwater jacket + cylindrical FPSO” development model in China, providing a new option for the efficient development of China’s deepwater oil and gas fields.
