On May 9, ZPMC Qidong Marine Engineering, a large holding subsidiary of Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC), held a keel-laying ceremony for a self-built 30,000 DWT deck carrier.
The main hull of the deck carrier consists of a continuous main deck, a double bottom and a single hull side tank. Classed by CCS and flying Chinese flag, the deck carrier has an overall length of 170 meters and a beam of 40 meters with a maximum speed of not less than 13 knots.
With bow steering, the main deck is fully open to meet the needs of large bridge cranes for ro-ro loading and unloading from the transom and both sides. Also it has power positioning (DP2) and over ballast capacity, which makes it a multifunctional shallow draft deck transportation vessel.
The deck carrier is equipped with a set of intelligent ship management system, which achieves intelligent management of energy efficiency, engine room and navigation. The ballast system can meet the left and right, front and rear mutual barging of ballast tanks in accordance with the loading characteristics, which can greatly improve the loading and unloading efficiency.
After operation, the deck carrier is mainly used for ocean transportation of ZPMC’s Port Machinery, as well as for the shipment and storage of platform modules and large components for large-scale engineering projects such as bridges, wharves, wind power, and offshore petroleum.
