Keel laid for China’s first large-scale LNG carrier

On May 5, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a kell laying ceremony for H2700, a 175,000 cbm LNG carrier built for ADNOC L&S. It is reported that H2700 is scheduled for delivery in December this year, one month ahead of the contractual delivery date.

This project is a 175,000m3 LNG carrier (“LNG JUMBO” series) independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipbuilding with the latest international LNG carrier design concept. The “LNG JUMBO” series LNG carriers are featuring mainstream, reliable, energy-saving and environmental protection, applied a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, and the comprehensive economic performance indexes have reached the international leading level.

Equipped with partial re-liquefaction system, the LNG carrier is more flexible in the control and operation management, and can effectively improve energy efficiency utilization. It is also equipped with the latest technology dual-fuel propulsion system, which meets all types of emission requirements and reduces methane escape and carbon emissions, in accordance with the green design concept.

It is the first LNG carrier of the series ordered by ADNOC L&S in Jiangnan Shipbuilding. During the construction period, Jiangnan Shipbuilding adopted innovative construction methods to shorten the construction period.
