On April 30th, Sumida Marine and New Dayang Shipbuilding jointly completed the final signing of two Crown 63 PLUS newbuilding projects in China with Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation. In less than half a year, Sumec Marine has cooperated with the second Japanese shipowner, marking that Sumec Marine has successfully opened the Japanese market.
It is reported that since September last year, Sumec Marine has been reporting a lot of success in the Japanese market. In January this year, Sumec Marine received an order for two Crown 63 PLUS from Kasuga Shipping, followed by an additional order from the shipowner in April this year.
The signing of the Itochu project has increased the number of Japanese orders held by Sumec Marine to 5, achieving a double harvest from medium-sized shipowners in the Japanese region to large merchant customers.
It is understood that ITOCHU Corporation is a famous business group in Japan and ranked 96th in the Fortune 500 in 2023. ITOCHU is also an old friend of New Dayang, who ordered the Crown 58 bulk carrier from the former Dayang Shipyard as early as 2010. After many years, Itochu once again chose the new Ocean Crown 63 PLUS bulk carries, reflecting its great trust in the “Crown” brand.
As the “star” product of New Dayang Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Sumec Marine, New Dayang’s Crown 63 PLUS has an overall length of 199.99 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters and a depth of 18.80 meters. With complete independent intellectual property rights, New Dayang Shipbuilding has built and delivered hundreds of Crown 63 PLUS bulk carries so far.
