MODEC entrusts Seatrium with topsides integration deal for Guyana-bound FPSO

Thanks to a deal with Offshore Frontier Solutions, a MODEC Group company, Singapore-headquartered Seatrium Limited, former Sembcorp Marine before the merger with Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited, has been put in charge of topsides integration on a new floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which will be deployed at ExxonMobil’s fifth oil development in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana.

Seatrium’s contract scope of work encompasses the installation and integration of topside modules on board the FPSO Errea Wittu, including completion and commissioning support for MODEC. This FPSO is destined to work at the ExxonMobil-operated Uaru field in the Stabroek Block, approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Guyana.

The $12.7 billion Uaru project was sanctioned in April 2023 and a ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for the FPSO Errea Wittu was held on February 2, 2024. This vessel is expected to have a production capacity of 250,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), a water injection capacity of 350,000 barrels of water per day (bwpd), 540 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas production, and a storage capacity of two million barrels of oil.

The project is slated to start production in 2026 and several deals have been awarded to multiple companies. Seatrium has joined the ranks of several other players that MODEC has picked for work on the FPSO, including Jumbo Offshore Installation Contractors, SOFEC, ABB, TMC Compressors, and Miko Marine. The Singapore-based firm has delivered multiple FPSO projects for MODEC since its first FPSO conversion in 1996.

Currently, Seatrium is undertaking integration work for the FPSO Bacalhau, which will operate in the Bacalhau field within the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. In addition, BrasFELS, the firm’s yard in Brazil’s Angra dos Reis is executing topside modules fabrication for the FPSO Raia.
