D’Amico back to Jiangsu New Yangzi for two more eco LR1 tankers

D’Amico Tankers, part of Italian shipping company d’Amico International Shipping (DIS), has returned to Chinese shipyard Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding with an order for two additional long-range (LR1) eco tankers.

The two new product tankers will be constructed for a price tag of $56.2 million each. These new efficient vessels are expected to be delivered in July and December 2027, respectively.

To remind, a week ago, d’Amico signed a contract with the same yard for the construction of two LR1 eco tankers. The ships are slated for delivery in September and November 2027, respectively.

“Following our announcement on April 17th regarding the order of two newbuilding LR1s, I am glad to announce today that we have reached an agreement with the same yard to construct two additional LR1 ‘Eco’ product tanker vessels of the same type,” C. Balestra di Mottola, CEO of d’Amico International Shipping commented.

“As previously stated, these ships are highly efficient and environmentally friendly, aligning with our long-term objective of maintaining a thoroughly modern and ‘Eco’ fleet.”

“Therefore, I am pleased to reinforce DIS’ presence in the LR1 segment, bringing our total fleet to 10 modern vessels.”

Recently, the company signed a memorandum of agreement for the purchase of the MT Amfitrion, a 50,000 dwt MR product tanker vessel. The ship was built in 2017 by Samsung Heavy Industries Ningbo, China, for a consideration of $43.5 million.
