BDI Falls for Fifth Day

On April 26, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) fell for the fifth consecutive day by 1.26% to 1,721 points, the lowest level in more than two weeks.

The capesize index slipped 58 points, or 2.6 percent, to 2,172, the lowest since April 10 and the sixth consecutive session of declines.

The Panamax index fell 18 points, or about 1 percent, to 1,878, at its lowest level since April 17th.

The freight index for Handymax bulk carrier rose 7 points to 1,495. The index posted a weekly gain of 7.2%.
