On April 29th, Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (SHGSIC) held a keel laying ceremony for the 115,000 DWT T110K-6 crude oil tanker built for Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Limited (AMCL), a subsidiary of China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).
CMES is reported to build a total of 4 new 115,000 dwt Aframax crude oil tankers at SHGSIC.T110K-6 is the 2nd unit in the series and is the largest crude oil tanker in terms of deadweight tonnage built by SHGSIC so far. The first crude oil tanker of the series, T110K-5, started construction in August 2023 and laid keel in February 2024.
The tanker is equipped with single engine and single propeller drive, straight bow, open stern ball and semi-balanced rudder blade. The cargo hold area is in double-shell, double-bottom, single-deck, longitudinal skeleton structure, which is divided into 6 pairs of cargo oil tanks, 1 pair of waste oil and water tanks, and one residual oil tank.
The 115,000 DWT crude oil tanker has an overall length of about 243 meters and a beam of 44 meters with a design speed of 14.5 knots. It has a deadweight of 114,800 tons with cargo tanks capable of carrying more than 800,000 barrels of crude oil products.
The main engine and generator meet the Tier III emission standard of IMO. The main engine and generator adopt HPSCR and LPSCR respectively, whose maneuverability, economic performance, energy-saving and green performance are all better than those of the same type of ships, and have strong market competitiveness.
SHGSIC, whose former name is Shanhaiguan Shipyard, is a first class state-owned enterprise of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). It was established from 1972, went into operation in 1986.
The main business of SHGSIC is ship-repair , shipbuilding, ship conversion, scrapping, off-shore engineering construction, maintenance, harbor machinery, steel fabrication, shipping spare parts providing, heat-dip galvanization, project construction, wharf loading/unloading and storage business. SHGSIC has been found to conform to system standard GB/T I9001-2000-ISO, gained the authority of doing direct import/export business in 1995 and the authority of harbor & mooring managing in 2001.
The area of SHGSIC is 3,116,000m2, which includes 2,088,000m2 land areas and 1,028,000m2 harbor basin areas. The principal dimensions of two ship-building docks are 240m×28m×9.8m and 440m×100m×12m; four ship-repairing docks are 240m×39m×11.4m、340m×64m×12.8m、320m×56m×13.3m and 260m×50m×13m.There are 19 quays of 5641.6m length in total. The ship-repair annual capacity of SHGSIC is more than 200 vessels .
