Imabari Shipbuilding Delivers a 211,000 DWT Bulk Carrier

On April 26, Imabari Shipbuilding delivered the 211,000 weight tons Bulk Carriers “BERGE MAUNA LOA” built in Saijo Shipyard.

With a total length of 299.99m and a width of 50.00m, “BERGE MAUNA LOA” is a cape-size bulk carrier with 9 holds / 9 hatches, complying with the Common Structural Rules (CSR BC &OT). Her each cargo hold has topside and hopper tanks, making suitable for loading dry bulk cargoes, such as coal and ore. Additionally, she is designed to apply the alternate loading with high-density cargo.

In order to comply with the NOx Tier III regulations, this vessel is equipped with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) for main engine and generator engines each. Also, she is equipped with the Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) to reduce the SOx emission. She achieves high propulsion performance by applying the energy-saving devices in way of propeller, twisted rudder, low resistance bow shape, low wind resistance shaped accommodation, low friction paint for outer hull plating, etc.

Her EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) not only satisfies the current requirement (Phase-2) but also Phase-3 required for the ships built in and after 2025. She also has the ballast water treatment system and the Inventory of Hazardous Material as for the Ship Recycling Convention.
