On April 26th, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), successfully undertook the new shipbuilding project of 2 large-scale 175,000m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for OCEAN JADE INVESTMENT LIMITED, a joint venture company of China Gas/Wah Kwong/CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company. Representatives of all parties jointly signed the construction contract.
Developed independently by DSIC, the LNG carriers has a total cargo hold capacity of 175,000 m3 and adopts GTT’s proprietary Mark III Flex cargo containment system. Equipped with 4 cargo holds, the liquid cargo system is only used for LNG cargo transportation, and is also equipped with a re-liquefaction system.
Equipped with two WinGD LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engines, the 175,000m3 LNG carrier integrates the iCER system, which reduces the oil and gas consumption while enabling both the fuel oil and gas modes to meet the strictest emission standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Equipped with 4 sets of dual-fuel generators, the optimized design can cover the power load demand under different working conditions.
This LNG carrier can berth at most of the world’s large LNG terminals, providing excellent portability and ship-to-shore compatibility.
The signing of the construction contract is a further achievement of DSIC and China Gas, Wah Kwong, and CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company based on the first two actual vessels. Dalian Shipbuilding has cooperated with the three companies to carry out active and effective technological innovation, and through this project to further consolidate and deepen the relationship of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation, actively play their respective advantages, and promote common development.
The project will be built in DSIC Headquarters. Up to now, the number of orders for LNG carriers held by Dalian Shipbuilding has reached 15, laying a solid foundation for Dalian Shipbuilding’s transformation and upgrading to high value-added products.
