COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) launches two bulk carriers in parallel

On April 24, Yangzhou COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry successfully launched the first of two 82,500 DWT bulk carriers (Hull No. N1138) built for Greek shipowner Safe Bulkers and the seventh of the 82,000 DWT series of bulk carriers (Hull No. N995) built for China Development Bank Leasing on schedule.

The 82,500 DWT bulk carrier is a new generation of low-carbon, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly bulk carrier products independently developed and designed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in accordance with the comprehensive market demand with fully independent intellectual property rights.

As the fourth generation of 82,000 tons bulk carrier, it is 229 meters in length, 32.26 meters in breadth, 20.35 meters in depth, and 14.5 meters in structural draught.

It meets TIER-Ⅲ emission requirements, the structure design meets HCSR requirements, and it can pass through both the old and new Panama Canal with strong adaptability and high transportation economy. Meanwhile, it is equipped with energy-saving devices: energy-saving conduits and vortex eliminating fins, which are green, environmentally friendly, energy-saving and safe.

Up to now, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) has successfully delivered 17 82,000 DWT bulk carriers of the same series to five well-known shipowners at home and abroad. These bulk carriers have received good feedback on their operation, with excellent performance in fuel consumption, loading and other indicators, which have been well received by domestic and foreign shipowners, management companies and charterers.
