CIMC SOE wins order for two 20,000m³ LNG bunkering vessels from Bermuda Shipowner

Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co.,Ltd. (CIMC SOE), a subsidiary of CIMC Enrico, has successfully signed an order for two 20,000m³ LNG bunkering vessels with Avenir LNG Limited (Avenir LNG) in Bermuda. Deliveries are scheduled for Q4 2026 and Q1 2027.

Designed and built by CIMC Enrico, the vessel has an overall length of 160 meters, a beam of 25 meters with a design speed of 15.5 knots. As a new generation of 20,000m³ LNG transportation and bunkering vessel, its core highlights are the latest WinGD dual-fuel main engine and the application of iCER technology (i.e. Intelligent Control of Exhaust Gas Recirculation).

In addition, CIMC Enrico has also innovated and optimized the cargo containment system, and the evaporation rate of this vessel has a significant advantage over vessels of the same size in the market.

Avenir LNG is an LNG shipping consortium formed by three LNG ship owners, Stolt-Nielsen Gas (SNG), Golar LNG and GasLog, focusing on small and medium-sized LNG shipments as well as LNG bunkering operations. The company owns a small LNG terminal in Sardinia and currently has assets/partners operating in China, Malaysia, the Mediterranean, the Baltic and the Caribbean.

Previously, CIMC Enrico has cooperated with Avenir LNG for many times and has successfully delivered two 20,000m³ LNG bunkering vessels for refueling and two 7,500m³ LNG bunkering vessels to Avenir LNG, which has won wide acclaim from the customer.

It is worth mentioning that the previously delivered 20,000m3 LNG bunkering vessels were not only the largest LNG bunkering vessels in the world at that time, but also the first LNG bunkering vessel built for international navigation vessels, which can not only transport LNG, but also bunker LNG for other vessels and terminals.

In addition, Avenir Allegiance, a 20,000m3 LNG bunkering vessel, and Avenir Aspiration, a 7,500m3 LNG bunkering vessel, have been selected for inclusion in the “Significant Ships of 2022”.
