DNV awards Smart Class Notation to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou)’s Container Ships

Recently, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. has delivered three 14,000 TEU container ships, on which standardized data infrastructure systems (developed by COSCO Shipping Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute) has been deployed to obtain world’s first DNV’s D-INF(S) and Smart (OPM,OPH,EEN) class notation.

The class notation “D-INF” fulfills the requirements for a complete data acquisition infrastructure, including onboard data servers, data relay components and remote data management, covering the complete ship-to-shore communications framework. The additional symbol “S” in D-INF(S) denotes a standardized data collection infrastructure to enable efficient and easy data collection, exchange and management.

The three container ships are equipped with smart functions in line with the three categories of machinery, hull and energy efficiency and environmental improvement. Their solutions for smart nacelles and operations and maintenance are designed to demonstrate smart functionality through the SQ Systems assessment methodology.
