CMHI Haimen Shipyard launched a new-built 9100 CEU ro-ro vessel

On April 21st, China Merchants Heavy Industries Haimen shipyard (CMHI Haimen shipyard) successfully launched a new-built 9100 CEU ro-ro vessel.

This ro-ro vessel measures 199.9 meters in overall length, 196.4 meters in section length, 37.6 meters in section width, 14.53 meters in section depth, 9.35 meters in design draught, has 14 decks with a capacity of 9,100 vehicles. Designed by Deltamarin, the vessel can run on both LNG and conventional fuels, and has DNV’s “ammonia-ready” and “methanol-ready” class notations. It is the first carbon-neutral vessel in the car carrier sector and is the world’s most environmentally friendly car carrier.

It is understood that in 2023, the number of China’s automobile exports jumped to the world’s first, automobile exports by sea accounted for about 13% of the world, but the capacity of professional automobile transport ships accounted for only 2% of the world, shipping capacity constraints have become one of the main bottlenecks in the development of the industry.

As the main transportation vessel for international automobile trade transportation, the dual-fuel automobile ro-ro vessel launched is an important force to cope with the capacity constraints of automobile transportation vehicles and to promote the realization of the dual-carbon goal.
