YMP Signs Low Speed Engine Lease Manufacturing Contract with RongAn Power

On April 18, Yu Chai Marine Power Co., LTD. (YMP) and Hefei RongAn Power Machinery Co., Ltd. (RongAn Power) signed another low-speed engine leasing and manufacturing contract in Hefei.

Since YMP exported a YCMP-WinGD 5RT-Flex50D main engine to 3.MAJ Shipyard in Croatia last year starting the successful cooperation with RongAn Power for the first time in lease manufacturing, this is the third batch of low-speed engine lease manufacturing contract between the two parties. To date, a total of 29 low-speed engines have been contracted.

Hefei RongAn Power Machinery Co., Ltd. is a large-scale equipment manufacturing enterprise mainly engaging in marine diesel engines. Registered and established in August 2007 in Hefei City, the company is located in Hefei Economic & Technological Development Zone of Anhui province. It is the first and the only private enterprise that was approved by the committee to manufacture low speed engine in China.

RongAn Power had already signed the licensing agreements with Wartsila and MAN to manufacture low speed diesel engine with cylinder bore range from 350mm to 980 mm. The first engine-RONGAN-WARTSILA 6RT-flex68-D which was exported to Brazil was delivered on 22, Oct. 2009. In June, 2010, China first 7RT-flex82T engine manufactured by RongAn was successfully delivered and the following manufacture of other models of WARTSILA and MAN engines will be carried out in succession.

The demand for low-speed engines in the newbuilding market has skyrocketed so far this year, and YMP has a full production schedule. YMP has obtained the licenses of WinGD and MAN B&W to lease the equipment and facilities of RongAn Power to produce YCMP-WinGD and YCMP-MAN B&W low-speed engines in 2024. RongAn Power, as the leasing manufacturing base of YMP, holds the production capacity of the largest bore (MAN B&W 950mm, WinGD 920mm) low-speed engines in the market today. Therefore, YMP can lease RongAn Power’s equipment and facilities to manufacture the full range of low-speed engines of MAN B&W and WinGD, which can better satisfy the market and customers’ rapidly growing demand for low-speed engines.
