Recently, Singaporean shipping company Navig8 has taken delivery of NAVIG8 EXCEED, the second of six newbuild MR tankers with emission-reducing technologies from China’s New Times Shipbuilding (NTS).
NTS and the shipowner Navig8 have reportedly been cooperating since 2016 and NTS has previously delivered 21 vessels to Navig8. Meanwhile, NTS has four other Navig8 vessels under construction.
Classed by KR, the 50,000 dwt product tanker/chemical tanker has an overall length of 183.24 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, a depth of 19.1 meters, a design draught of 11 meters and a structural draught of 13.3 meters with a deadweight of 50,000 tons.
The Navig8 Exceed will utilise a range of technologies that improve operational efficiency, lessen fuel consumption, and reduce emissions.
All six vessels are installed with an air lubrication system (ALS) from Marine Technology Solutions, and an exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) to remove sulphur, otherwise known as a scrubber.
Furthermore, Navig8 employs the Shipwatch platform to oversee the performance of its ships and actively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions through enhanced operational efficiency. All vessels will integrate a CII monitoring system directly connected to the Shipwatch platform.
The vessels will join the Navig8 Gamma8 Pool and will be technically managed by Suntech Maritime.
