Croatian bulk carrier owner and operator Atlantska Plovidba has returned to Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (HT) to place an additional order for an Ultramax bulk carrier.
Atlantska Plovidba has signed a contract for the construction of a 63,500 dwt bulk carrier with HT at a cost of $32.5 million for a single unit, which is expected to be delivered in 2027, according to a filing by the company on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.
The order is an optional vessel to a shipbuilding contract already signed by both parties earlier this year. The new bulk carrier is designed to meet IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase 3 requirements.
In March this year, Atlantska Plovidba signed a shipbuilding contract for the first two 63,500 dwt bulk carriers with HT, with a total order value of about $65 million, which is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2026.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Atlantska Plovidba has placed a shipbuilding order with HT. The cooperation between the two parties started in 2021, when HT was responsible for building four Kamsarmaxe bulk carriers for Atlantska Plovidba at a price of $34.3 million per unit.
Atlantska Plovidba is understood to currently manage a fleet of 11 bulk carriers. Another Croatian diversified shipowner, Tankerska Plovidba, holds about 64% of the company.
