On April 16, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), officially kicked off the construction of the first PCTC (pure car and track carrier) (H2676) in the series of AJ9000 ceu methanol reserved PCTCs for Anji Logistics, a subsidiary of SAIC Group.
On April 28, 2023, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), signed a construction contract with Anji Logistics for three 9000 ceu methanol reserved PCTCs. This PCTC is designed and developed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) for SAIC Anji, with full independent intellectual property rights. This series of PCTCs are classed by China Classification Society (CCS) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The PCTC was then the world’s largest scale class, the strongest loading capacity, the best level of energy efficiency and the carbon neutral fuel reservation of the low-carbon intelligent super-large car carriers.
It is the third cooperation between SAIC Anji Logistics and Jiangnan Shipbuilding. previously, the two parties signed two 7600 ceu PCTCs in 2021 and three 7800 ceu PCTCs in 2022. Deliveries are expected to start in August 2025 one after another. The delivery of the PCTCs will provide a solid guarantee for SAIC Group to fulfill its future capacity autonomy and control, and green decarbonization and sustainable development.
Designed with an overall length of 228 meters, a beam of 37.8 meters, a depth of 15.4 meters, a structural draught of 10.3 meters and a service speed of 18.3 knots, the 9000 ceu PCTC is a technologically advanced, green and environmentally friendly new-generation super-panamax car carrier specially designed for the transportation of automobiles, trucks and new-energy vehicles in compliance with the latest international emission rules.
It adopts green technologies such as “methanol reservation + desulfurization tower + selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system + shaft generator system”, which significantly reduces the emission of sulfur oxides and other greenhouse gases.
Meanwhile, the PCTC adopts the integration priority strategy, integrates energy-saving devices with optimal selection and allocation and takes into account the rationality of the arrangement, operability, stability and economy. Therefore, it has the advantages of high flexibility in operation, green energy-saving and good environmental protection concept.
