Southeast Shipyard Receives Order for Two 18,500DWT Tankers/Chemical Tankers

On April 15, Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited made an announcement of “Major Transaction to Acquire Two Vessels”.

The announcement disclosed that Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited, through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Seacon Shipping Pte. Ltd. entered into a contract for the construction of two 18,500DWT tankers/chemical tankers with Fujian Southeast Shipyard Co., Ltd (Southeast Shipyard), a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding). The unit price of this series of tankers/chemical tankers is $32.3 million, with a total contract value of $64.6 million.

According to the announcement, the first 18,500DWT tanker is scheduled to be delivered on December 31, 2025 and the 2nd unit is scheduled to be delivered on March 31, 2026.

According to previous reports, Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited announced on February 18th that it signed a contract with Southeast Shipyard for the construction of four 18,500DWT tankers/chemical tankers, with a total contract value of $129 million.

The 18,500DWT tanker has an overall length of 149.8 meters, a beam of 22.8 meters and a depth of 12.7 meters with a design draft of 8.5 meters. It is mainly used for the transportation of product oils with trial flash point ≤ 60°C that meet the requirements of the IBC specification and vegetable oils and bulk chemicals (Class II and III), which are characterized by shallow draught and large capacity and meet the requirement of unlimited navigation area.
