On April 11, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed and delivered the second vessel (H2772) of a series of 15,000 TEU dual-fuel container vessels built for CMA CGM Group, which was named “CMA CGM CAPE COD” on March 28th.
It is reported that this series of vessels are the 15000TEU dual-fuel container vessels (including technology upgrading) built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding for DCMA CGM Group, totaling 6 vessels. This batch of vessels has an overall length of 366 meters, a beam of 51 meters with a service speed of 22 knots. They are equipped with GTT Mark Ⅲ LNG containment system, featuring large container capacity, advanced technology, energy saving and environmental protection.
This batch of re-built vessels adopts the world’s new generation of dual-fuel main engine with intelligent control by exhaust recycling (iCER) system, which can automatically track and dynamically adjust the ratio of air and gas through specific algorithms and can reduce methane escape by 50% in gas mode compared with previous models, which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 28%.
It is worth mentioning that the design of the vessel has taken safety and recycling into consideration, and the remaining LNG will be returned to the tanker after the trial voyage back to the factory, which is a highly demanding operation in terms of process design and risk control, and greatly shortens the trial voyage cycle and reduces the construction cost.
