On April 9, the upper block of Asia’s first deepwater jacket “Haiji-2” was completed and successfully loaded onboard in China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s (CNOOC) Zhujiang Site, and entered into offshore installation and joint adjustment. After completion, the deepwater jacket will be the tallest and heaviest fixed offshore deepwater oil and gas platform in Asia at present.
The upper block of “Haiji-2” platform delivered this time is undertaking the core functions of oil and gas processing, power supply, life support, underwater remote operation and etc. It consists of five parts, such as east block, west block, the torch arm, the drill rig module and living building, with a total weight of over 13,000 tons. It is equipped with more than 300 sets of domestic equipments such as crude oil process and export system, production water treatment system, flow metering system and power supply system, with a localization rate of more than 95%.
Fixed deepwater jacket platform is the most widely used offshore oil and gas production facility in the world, consisting of underwater conduit frame, pile legs and upper block, which is a “super oil and gas factory” built on the ocean.
It is reported that after the installation of the upper block, the total height of the platform will reach 428 meters. The projected area of the deck is about 2,500 square meters, equivalent to the size of 6 standard basketball courts, and the total weight of the platform is over 50,000 tons. After completion, Haiji-2 will set a new record for the height and weight of a single offshore deepwater crude oil production platform in China and Asia.
“Haiji-2” will be deployed in China’s first deep-water oilfield – Liuhua 11-1/4-1 Oil Field, boasting proven geological reserves exceeding 100 million tonnes.
