Italian owner d’Amico International Shipping has agreed to acquire a 50,000 dwt MR product tanker, the Amfitrion, for $43.5 million.
The acquisition was completed by d’Amico Tankers, an Irish subsidiary of d’Amico International Shipping. The product tanker was built in 2017 by Samsung Heavy Industries Ningbo in China. Equasis database shows that the MR product tanker is managed by Capital Maritime and Trading and owned by a subsidiary of the Greek company.
Following the completion of the acquisition, d’Amico’s fleet consists of 34 product tankers (MR, Handysize and LR1), of which 26 are owned, 5 are chartered in and 3 are bareboat chartered. The average age of the fleet’s owned and bareboat chartered vessels is approximately 8.8 years.
Last month it was announced that d’Amico had sold its fleet of MR product tankers, the Glenda Melanie, which was built and delivered by HD Hyundai Mipo in 2010 and is the oldest unit in d’Amico Tankers’ owned and bareboat chartered fleet, for $27.4 million.
d’Amico International Shippin said the acquisition of the Amfitrion fits well with the company’s long-term strategy to own and operate a fleet of young, efficient product tankers.
