YMP Receives Main Engine Order for 55,000 DWT Self-Propelled Deck Cargo Vessels

Recently, Yu Chai Marine Power Co., LTD. (YMP) and Jiangsu Fanzhou Shipping Co., Ltd (Fanzhou Shipping) held a contract signing ceremony for two sets of 6S46ME-C8.6-HPSCR main engines for 55,000 DWT self-propelled deck cargo vessels.

In 2023, Fanzhou Shipping selected YMP’s 6S46ME-C8.6-HPSCR for its first 55,000 DWT self-propelled deck cargo vessel. And this time, Fanzhou Shipping once again chose YMP as the main engine supplier for its subsequent vessels of the same type.

It is understood that the 55,000 DWT self-propelled deck cargo vessel is 256m in length, 51m in breadth and 13m in depth, which is the first of its kind in China in its external dimensions and deadweight capacity, as well as the largest width vessel to meet the requirements of the New Panama Canal navigation.

The main propulsion system of the vessel adopts two 6S46ME-C8.6-HPSCR low-speed diesel engines for direct propulsion. The selection of power takes into account both the economics of ship operation and the safety redundancy of wind and wave resistance for large shipments as well as the adaptability of carbon emission power limits.
