Annual Production of CSSC Engine Successfully Breaks 4 Million Horsepower

On December 28, 2023, with the successful delivery of CSB742/6S60ME-C10.5+HPSCR, the 2023 production mission of CSSC Engine Co.,Ltd. was fully completed, and the annual production successfully broke through 4 million horsepower.

At the beginning of the establishment of the country, China’s low-speed marine diesel engine manufacturing is a blank. In 1958, Dalian Marine Diesel trial production success of China’s first 6ESD/106 type low-speed marine diesel engine.

In 1969, China established the first low-speed high-power diesel engine factory – Yichang Marine Diesel Engine, and in 2006, another low-speed high-horsepower diesel engine factory was established – Qingdao Marine Diesel Engine. And in 2014, Yichang Marine Diesel Engine acquired Qingdao Qiyao Wartsila MHI Linshan Marine Diesel Co., Ltd, (QMD).

In 2017, in order to make China’s marine low-speed engine industry stronger and better, CSIC integrated its low-speed engine enterprises.CSIC formed Yichang Marine Diesel Engine, Dalian Marine Diesel Engine and Qingdao Marine Diesel Engine into China’s largest low-speed marine diesel engine manufacturer – China Marine Diesel Engine, which was later renamed as China State Shipbuilding Engine Co Ltd (CSSC Engine) on March 15, 2023. Since then, CSSC Engine has started a new journey of industrial development.

In September 2020, CSSC Engine actively responded to China’s “dual-carbon” strategy. The proportion of orders received for dual-fuel main engines and the proportion of orders for low-carbon fuels in hand are growing significantly.

In 2023, CSSC Engine successfully delivered the world’s first 7S35ME-C9.7-GI+EcoEGR fuel main engine, which filled the gap of small bore LNG dual-fuel main engine type spectrum. CSSC Engine completed the methanol fuel main engine manufacturing technology preparation and test capacity construction, and obtained domestic batch orders for methanol fuel main engines. Meanwhile, it accelerates the technology pre-research and manufacturing layout of ammonia fuel main engine, and completes the test verification of SCR domestic catalyst and mass production of cylinder liner made of CV5. At present, CSSC Engine has delivered more than 200 sets of SCR high-pressure dual-fuel main engines, formed the batch production capacity of dual-fuel main engines.
