GSI signs order with L&B for 2 new MR tankers

On April 2, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s (CSSC) Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) and CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company Limited, successfully signed two 50,000 dwt tanker construction contracts with Germany’s Leonhardt & Blumberg (L&B) via video link.

L&B has a long history of cooperation with CSSC and has ordered 47 feeder container ships from CSSC. This cooperation is a continuation of the deep friendship between L&B and CSTC, CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping and GSI, and it is a sign that the cooperation between L&B and CSSC has reached a new level.

The 50,000 dwt tanker is a new generation of MR tanker independently developed and designed by GSI, and is also a high-quality ship type built by GSI. The tanker has an overall length of 183 meters, a beam of 32 meters, a structural draft of 13.3 meters with a deadweight of about 49,500 tons and a service speed of 14.5 knots.

It is reserved for methanol dual-fuel function, equipped with sulfur removal device, the emission standard meets the International Maritime Organization TIER Ⅲ standard, and the EEDI reaches the Phase 3 requirement. It is characterized by fast speed, light empty weight, low energy consumption and strong adaptability.
