SDARI’s second-generation bulk carrier “DOLPHIN 64” won a large batch of orders

Recently, the second generation “DOLPHIN 64” bulk carrier developed and designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has been awarded another batch of orders. Thus, the order book for the bulk carrier “DOLPHIN 64” has reached more than 120 units in several shipyards.

The order in force is built by Jiangsu Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (NHT) for Singapore Pioneer Logistics, for totaling 6 bulk carriers. This ship type is successfully researched and developed by SDARI based on its rich experience in bulk carrier design and according to the research and utilization of new regulations and new technologies, which is characterized by safety and high efficiency, energy saving, low consumption and environmental protection.

This “DOLPHIN 64” bulk carrier significantly reduces fuel consumption and improves its wave resistance and maneuverability in rough sea conditions through its excellent line design and low wind resistance upbuilding design. The CSR-H based structural design and fully specialized lightweighting studies have increased the capacity.

The bulk carrier is designed with oversized cargo hold capacity and is also equipped with energy-saving conduits and hubcap fins. The Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) meets the requirements of Phase III and provides a complete solution for NOx and SOx, meeting the stringent requirements of modern shipping industry on ship performance and environmental protection.
