Watts Energy & Engineering Successfully Delivers 23220m³ Type-A LPG Cargo Tank for Wison Eni FLNG

On April 2, Watts Energy & Engineering held a delivery ceremony of 23, 220 m³ Type-A LPG Liquid Cargo Tank for Wison EniF445 MARINE XII OFFSHORE FLNG Project at Qidong Base.

It is understood that FLNG for “floating liquefied natural gas” short, is a floating liquefied natural gas processing platform, can be far from land in the sea directly will be extracted from the natural gas liquefaction and storage, and then transported to various places through LNG carriers. A large FLNG is the most complex, costly and value-added product among the offshore natural gas equipments, and previously such large FLNGs were all designed and manufactured by foreign enterprises.

The designed annual production capacity of this FLNG is 2.4 million tons of liquefied natural gas, in which the two Type-A liquid cargo tanks undertaken by Watts Energy & Engineering can load 46,500 m³ of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The single LPG storage tank structure weighs about 1,600 tons, with a total volume of about 23,220m³, a length of 22m, a width of 45m and a height of 31m, a design temperature of -50°C and a design pressure of 45kpa, which is one of the key storage devices for this type of FLNG.

It is reported that the project has been under construction since August 2023, and the structural closure was completed in February this year, taking just over eight months to be ready for delivery. It is worth mentioning that the project contains the following highlights:

  • It is the first FLNG project Type-A liquid cargo tank in China;
  • It is one of the largest capacity Type-A liquid cargo tanks in China;
  • The successful delivery of this project marks that Watts Energy & Engineering has become the second professional supplier of oversized Type-A liquid cargo tanks in China after Jiangnan Shipbuilding;
  • It an innovative practice of the Yangtze River Delta regional innovation synergy concept in the high-end offshore equipment industry for Wison-Watts.

The successful delivery of this Type-A LPG liquid cargo tank project is another successful exploration of Watts Energy & Engineering based on the experience of Type-A tanks and B-type tanks, and once again verifies the leading strength of Watts Energy & Engineering in the field of LNG/LPG/LCO2 liquid cargo tanks and fuel tanks.
