Four classification societies issue AIP for the world’s largest LNG carrier

On September 5, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has obtained the AiP certificates issued by ABS, LR, BV, and DNV for the design and construction of 271,000 m3 very Large Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Carrier.

This shiptype is the most powerful “giant” and “enormous” in the field of LNG carriers today.The vessel has an overall length of 344 meters, a beam of 53.6 meters, a depth of 27.2 meters, a design draft of 12.0 meters, and is powered by dual-fuel low-speed engine propulsion with the NO96 Super+ envelope system.The vessel is designed based on the latest global shipping concepts, with five outstanding features:Max capacity、Excellent performance、Flexible operation、Extra safety and Exciting compatibility.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding is the first Chinese shipbuilder with the capability of independent design and construction of large-scale LNG carriers and the track record of ship delivery. Meanwhile, is the only shipbuilder in the world capable of building both NO96 and MARK III LNG carriers.

Up until now, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has cumulatively delivered more than 40 LNG carriers (equipment) of various types ,holding orders for nearly 50 LNG carriers and the production tasks have been scheduled until 2028.
