On March 29, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s first built 174,000 m3 LNG carrier (H1892A) was launched at No. 2 dock of its Changxing Shipbuilding Base.
The 174,000 m3 LNG carrier is independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. It is 295 meters in overall length, 45 meters in beam, 26.25 meters in depth, 19.5 knots in speed and is classified by China Classification Society (CCS) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
This 174,000 m3 LNG carrier is a key product for Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding to respond to the national call to achieve independent control of key core equipment materials. Hudong-Zhonghua will firstly achieve the application of domestic LNG cryogenic butterfly valves, cryogenic expansion joints and other cryogenic system core equipments and materials on large LNG carriers, and the application ratio of domestic cryogenic valves reaches more than 80%, and the application of various types of newly developed domestic equipments and materials will increase the localization rate of large LNG carriers to more than 70%, reaching a record high, and will greatly enhance the independent and controllable capability of LNG carriers.
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has fully optimized the design of the vessel, adopting XDF propulsion system and L03+ cargo enclosure system. Meanwhile, the shipyard has upgraded the technology and installed the re-liquefaction device on the basis of PetroChina LNG Project, which achieves the balance of evaporated gas for a wide range of sailing speeds under different operation modes, and can be flexibly adapted to various long and short routes around the world.
Equipped with domestic propellers and domestic SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), this project further optimizes the main engine configuration and propeller matching, achieving a reduction in overall energy consumption, reducing CO2 emissions and practicing the concept of decarbonization. The design has fully considered the compatibility with more than 100 major LNG shore stations around the world, as well as the docking compatibility with FS RU, so this type of LNG carrier is characterized by wide seaworthiness and versatility.
