A multipurpose heavy lift vessel built for UHL completed its sea trial

On March 26, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), completed the sea trial of the second 13,500 dwt multi-purpose heavy lift vessel (H1875A), which was built for United Heavy Lift (UHL), and berthed at the Changxing Phase II port pool one day ahead of schedule.

The vessel has an overall length of 149.99 meters, a beam of 25.6 meters, a design draft of 6.8 meters with a service speed of 15.3 knots, and is classed by DNV. It is installed with the world’s first new main engine with its own SCR exhaust gas emission denitrification treatment device, NOX reaches Tier Ⅲ emission requirements and meets the latest SOX emission requirements.

Meanwhile, the vessel is equipped with 2 sets of 450-ton Kringle cranes, which can flexibly load various sizes of major equipment to meet the various loading requirements of the ship owner and the most environmentally friendly emission requirements.

It is reported that during the trial voyage, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding summarized the experience of the first vessel’s trial voyage and formulated a trial voyage plan that focuses on the main propulsion system and is supplemented by other test items for the corresponding working conditions.

The shipbuilder carried out test projects such as grid management communication navigation, VDR, ballast water treatment, etc., and efficiently communicated and collaborated with the ship owner and ship inspector to successfully complete the trial voyage. The vessel has excellent performance in terms of fuel consumption, vibration, noise, etc., and has won favorable comments from the shipowner and ship inspectors.
