On March 28, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed and delivered the third container ship (H2762) of the 15,500 TEU container ship series built for Seaspan. It was named “ONE FORWARD” on March 27th.
ONE FORWARD’s upstream stack adopts a two-island arrangement, with a total number of 15,456 containers, including 1,400 reefer containers. Configuring MAN8G95 main engine with exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) and generator with nitrogen removal device (SCR), the emission of NOx can meet IMO Tier III emission requirements.
Also, this 15,500 TEU container ship is installed with a hybrid desulfurization tower, which is more flexible to adapt to the emission requirements of sulfur oxides in different scenarios. In terms of energy saving and emission reduction, the generator is equipped with an exhaust gas boiler to generate steam. In addition, the ship is equipped with AMP system, which can reduce the use of generator and exhaust gas pollution at the terminal, and is a new generation of environmentally friendly conventional fuel container ship.
It is understood that as the last container ship in the series, ONE FORWARD will be chartered to ONE (Ocean Network Express) after delivery.
It is worth mentioning that, based on the strength demonstrated in the construction and delivery of this type of container ship, in mid-January this year, Jiangnan Shipbuilding signed a contract with ONE for the construction of six 13,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships. This type of ship is Jiangnan Shipbuilding’s independently developed and designed “KUN” series. The above contract is the first direct cooperation between ONE and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
