On Thursday, March 28, Imabari Shipbuilding delivered the 7,000-unit LNG-fueled vehicle carrier “DAISY LEADER” that was being built by Tadotsu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a member of the NYK Group.
“DAISY LEADER” has an overall length of 199.99m, a beam of 38.0m, a depth of 38.76m, a deadweight of 17,980 tons and a speed of 18.0 knots. It is equipped with 6S60ME-C10.5-GI main engine and classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK).
Compared to conventional heavy fuel-fueled vessels, this 7,000-unit LNG-fueled vehicle carrier achieved a reduction of 25-30% greenhouse gas emissions, almost 100% of SOx, which causes air pollution, and reduced NOx emissions by 80-90% by combining EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation System).
The BOG (Boil Off Gas) is constantly generated from the LNG fuel tank, and the BOG can be used in generators and boilers, making it more environmentally friendly.
By adopting a bulkheadless structure and arranging a wider slope linear than before, it is easy to understand the driving path of the vehicle, improving safety and cargo handling efficiency.
Because it adopts a liftable deck that can adjust the deck height up and down, not only passenger cars but also tall freight vehicles such as trucks and trailers can be loaded.
