On March 26, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, (SWS) a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), named and delivered the 7,000 TEU medium-sized container ship “DEXIANG SHANGHAI” built for TS Lines. This is the seventh commercial ship delivered by the SWS this year, completing 32% of the annual ship delivery plan, and successfully achieving the opening of the production in the first quarter of 2024.
According to statistics, in the first quarter of this year, SWS has completed and delivered four 7000TEU medium-sized container ships, two 190,000 DWT dual-fuel-powered bulk carriers and one 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker.
Meanwhile, the new ships commenced, docked, floated, docked and sea trial one after another, fully demonstrating the company’s characteristics and advantages of batch shipbuilding.
In addition, the much-anticipated second domestically produced large cruise ship has entered the stage of full speed. In early March, the company has achieved the completion of the 300th segment and the continuous launching of thin-sheeted segments. Currently, the cruise ship construction team focuses on continuous loading into the dock in mid-April and is working night and day to organize, plan and coordinate.
On March 8, SWS officially started the construction of the 8,600 CEU liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel powered pure car and track carrier (PCTC) segment. This is the first segment of the first ship of PCTC built by SWS, which fully opens a new stage of continuous construction of PCTC segments, and strives towards the goal of docking for general assembly and loading in the third quarter of this year.
The company’s fifth world-exclusive Fast4Ward general purpose offshore floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) is also being assembled and loaded in the dockyard in an orderly manner according to the production plan, and is scheduled for completion and delivery within the year.
