Fujian Shipbuilding Receives Orders for Three New Vessels in Two Types

On March 25th, following Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co.’s (Fujian Shipbuilding) announcement of the construction order for 11 18,500 DWT oil tankers, it also signed a contract for the construction of 2 14,500 DWT product tankers and 1 79.8m tuna seine vesse on the same day, making the order for new vessels a new record high.

On March 27, Fujian Southeast Shipyard Co., Ltd (Southeast Shipyard), a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, signed a contract for two 14,500 DWT product tankers with Malaysian shipowner Orkim Sdn Bhd.

The 14,500 DWT product tanker has an overall length of 140.00 meters, a beam of 22.00 meters, a depth of 11.60 meters with a design draught of 8.50 meters and is classed by ABS. It can transport refined oil with flash point lower than 60℃ and can meet the requirement of loading three different refined oils in parallel, including the oil cargoes listed in the requirements of Annex I, Annex I of MARPOL 73/78.

It is reported that this contract is the second cooperation between the two parties. This project is optimized in the original ship design, which can meet the requirements of EEDI3 and comprehensively improve the performance of the product tanker.

On March 27, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, signed a contract with Pan Pacific Fisheries for one 79.8-meter tuna seine vessel. The undertaking is a reunion between Mawei Shipbuilding and Pan Pacific Fisheries since their cooperation in 2018.

As previously reported, on March 26, Shanghai Kai Chuang Marine International Co., Ltd. announced that the company’s wholly-owned grandson, Pan Pacific Fish (RMI) Inc. entered into a Vessel Design and Construction Contract with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co. for the construction of a tuna seine vessel at a price of US$22.88 million.

It is reported that the tuna seiner vessel under construction should be delivered by December 31, 2025 or by that date. Upon delivery, the vessel will replace LOJET, which has been scrapped and disposed of, and will enhance the safety performance and fishing technology of the production vessel, which will help to strengthen the fishing capacity of Pan Pacific Fish’s (RMI) tuna purse seine fleet and improve the overall profitability.

In recent years, Fujian Shipbuilding has been plowing into the field of tuna seiner vessel construction, and has successively built and delivered as many as 13 tuna seiner vessels of the same type, which has a professional brand image and is highly praised by customers.
