Piraeus-based bulk carrier owner NEWPORT SA & GREHEL SHIPMANAGEMENT has placed an order with Japan’s Oshima Shipyard for three Kamsarmaxes, according to Trade Winds. This is the owner’s first newbuilding order.
NEWPORT SA and GREHEL SHIPMANAGEMENT are known to have been established in 2004 and 2019, respectively, and together they manage a fleet of 32 vessels ranging from 30,000 to 83,000 deadweight tons, with a total capacity of 1,992,051 deadweight tons.
According to statistics, the above order is the 4th newbuilding order disclosed by Oshima Shipyard were all announced in February.
Last month, European shipping investor Hayfin Capital Management signed a contract with Oshima Shipyard for the construction of two 100,000 dwt Post-Panamax bulk carriers, which are expected to be delivered in 2026.
Shih Wei Navigation, a bulk carrier owner and operator in Taiwan Province of China, has also signed a contract with Oshima Shipyard for the construction of two 64,000 dwt Ultramax bulk carriers at a cost of $39 million per unit, which are expected to be delivered in 2026.
Greek owner Samos Steamship ordered one 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier from Oshima Shipyard, which is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025.
