Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Receives Order for 2 LR2 Tankers

On March 19, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co. Ltd signed an order for two 115,000 DWT LR2 tankers with NAVIOS of Greece, bringing the number of the LR2 tankers to six.

In 2021, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard and NAVIOS signed an order for 10 5,300 TEU container ships, and in 2023, the two sides signed another 4 115,000 DWT tankers. At present, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard holds orders for 10 5,300 TEU container ships and 6 115,000 DWT LR2 tankers from NAVIOS. The first batch of 5,300 TEU container ships have been delivered one after another.

The additional order for 2 LR2 tankers will continue to help Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard’s leading position in the construction of medium and large-sized tankers in China, and further consolidate its product competitiveness in the tanker market sector.

The115,000 DWT LR2 tanker is a new generation LR2/Avlar tanker developed by the shipyard and CIMC ORIC based on the latest specification rules. It has an overall length of 249.9 meters, a vertical length of 245.5 meters, a breadth of 44 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, a structural draft of 15.2 meters, with a maximum deadweight tonnage of 115,000 tons, and is classed by ABS.

In addition to conventional fuel oil as fuel, the LR2 tanker can also switch to clean energy methanol and LNG as fuel in the future. Meanwhile, the reservation of medium-voltage shore power provides favorable conditions for shipowners to connect to the medium-voltage shore power system in the future, which can effectively reduce carbon, sulfur and other atmospheric pollution generated by the use of auxiliary generators during the LR2 tanker’s berthing in port.

In addition, it also adopts advanced single compartment single pump hydraulic drive deep well pump (Framo), which increases the cargo diversity and has more operational value.

Zhoushan Changhong International Ship Repair Co., Ltd. is located in Zhoushan Islands New District, Zhejiang Province. It was invested by Jiangsu New Yangtze River Group, a top 500 enterprise in China, and invested by China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd. in 2018. Changhong International has 11 dry docks of 300,000 tons, 100,000 tons and 80,000 tons, 2 horizontal berth of 150,000 tons and 7 outfitting docks. It has two 900-ton gantry cranes, three 500-ton gantry cranes and 11 high-horsepower tugs. Supporting the construction of sub-production workshop, outfitting workshop, painting workshop, mechanical and electrical special repair workshop and other equipment and facilities. It has the conditions and ability to build, modify and repair all kinds of ships and Marine engineering equipment at home and abroad.
