Monaco-based shipowner Scorpio Tankers has entered into an agreement with an unnamed buyer to sell it two MR product tankers built in 2013 for a total price of about $72 million (RMB 518 million).
The two product tankers, named STI Larvotto and STI Le Rocher, both of 49,990 tons deadweight, are being sold for $36.15 million, Scorpio Tankers said.
Scorpio Tankers also said that since the two product tankers to be sold are debt free, no debt repayments are required and delivery to the new owner is expected in the first half of 2024.
Upon the completion of the transaction, Scorpio Tankers will have a fleet of 109 vessels.
The sale is said to follow a number of buybacks. In February, Scorpio Tankers announced the exercise of purchase options for two MR product tankers (“STI Gramercy” and “STI Queens”) and two LR2 tankers ( “STI Oxford” and “STI Selatar”).
