ZPMC Holds Signing Ceremony for a 25000m³ Suction Dredger

On March 18th, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (Group) Co. (ZPMC) held a signing ceremony for a 25,000m³ suction dredger of CCCC Shanghai Waterway Bureau Limited.

As previously reported, in September 2023, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC) signed a design contract for three ultra-large suction dredgers with CCCC Dredging Group’s Tianjin Waterway Bureau, Shanghai Waterway Bureau and Guangzhou Waterway Bureau.

The design contract includes one 30,000m³ suction dredger to be built for CCCC Tianjin Waterway Bureau, one 25,000m³ suction dredger for CCCC Shanghai Waterway Bureau and one 35,000m³ suction dredger for CCCC Guangzhou Waterway Bureau.

In January 2024, ZPMC signed a contract for the construction of a 35,000m³ suction dredger and commenced the construction of a 30,000m³ suction dredger on the same day, marking a new phase of the three mega-sized suction dredgers financed by China Communications Construction Company Dredging Group Co., Ltd.

It is understood that the 25000m³ suction dredger is the first ultra-large self-propelled suction dredger with distributed bilge mud pump design in China. The maximum dredging depth is 120 meters, which is widely used in deep-sea sand extraction and coastal deep-water harbor channel dredging, blowing and coastal maintenance projects.

The suction dredger is equipped with a new-generation intelligent monitoring and integrated management platform developed completely independently by China, which can perform intelligent monitoring and integrated management of the suction dredger, and the intelligent function configuration has reached the top level in the world.
