On March 15, Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited (Seacon Shipping) issued an announcement on “Acquisition of Vessels in a Discloseable Transaction”.
The announcement disclosed that Seacon Shipping Pte. Ltd., an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Seacon Shipping, as the buyer, entered into a shipbuilding contract with Wuhu Shipyard Co., Ltd.
Accordingly, the seller agreed to build an 18,500dwt tanker/chemical tanker to the buyer, scheduled for delivery no later than December 31, 2025, valued at $30.1 million.
According to the announcement, Seacon Shipping said that the acquisition of vessel under the shipbuilding contract is in line with the Group’s strategy to continue to optimize its fleet by phasing out its obsolete controlled vessels and replacing them with newer vessels as well as expanding its controlled fleet.
