Wanlong Ship Heavy Industry Kicks off a 115,000 dwt Aframax Tanker

On March 15, Wanlong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. held a steel cutting ceremony for the 115,000 dwt Aframax tanker (WL2401), which is the largest tonnage and the first over 100,000 dwt tanker constructed in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province at present.

It is reported that 115,000 dwt series of Aframax tankers are classed by China Classification Society (CCS), which are designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI).

This tanker has an overall length of 249.90 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, a design draft of 13.6 meters, a deadweight of 115,000 tons, with a design speed of 14 knots. It is capable of sailing in unlimited navigation areas and can carry more than 800,000 barrels of refined oil products or crude oil products in its cargo tanks.

This 115,000 dwt tanker is a green ship that combines environmental protection, energy saving, safety and economy. SDARI has significantly improved its energy efficiency level through a number of measures such as comprehensive hydrodynamic performance optimization, hydrodynamic energy-saving conduit and vortex eliminating fin configuration, main engine selection optimization, etc. Its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) meets the requirements of IMO Tier III, and the NOx emission meets the requirements of IMO Tier III.
