Chengxi Shipyard delivered a 70,000DWT woodchip carrier 107 days ahead of schedule

On March 15th, Chengxi Shipyard has delivered a 70,000DWT woodchip carrier to Bocom Financial Leasing in Chengxi Shipyard(Yangzhou), which has hit a new record of 107 days earlier than the scheduled date according to the contract.

The new ship named “SDM HUBEI” with 215M in overall length, 37M in breadth, 25M in depth, 14.1knots in service speed, and registered in ABS. The 70,000 dwt woodchip carrier is a new ship type developed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) on the achievements of the 64,000 dwt woodchip carrier, with lower fuel consumption, higher speed, meeting the third stage of the Ship Energy Efficiency Index.

It is mainly used for transporting wood chips and other lightweight cargoes, with the characteristics of green environmental protection, large volume, etc., and all the performance and efficiency indexes are at the international leading level, which can significantly reduce the customer’s operating costs.

“SDM HUBEI”, a series of woodchip carriers built by Chengxi Shipyard for Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (BoCom Leasing), was successfully delivered 107 days ahead of the contracted, which is also the fourth new shipbuilding delivered by Chengxi Shipyard this year.

“SDM HUBEI” is the fourth new shipbuilding delivered by Chengxi Shipyard this year, which further consolidates its leading position in the field of woodchip carrier construction.
