Recently, Imabari Shipbuilding, the largest shipbuilding group in Japan, has delivered a 40,000 dwt bulk carrier “OHIRAYAMAL” to its owner.
“OHIRAYAMAL” is 182.93m in length, 31.00m in breadth, 15.00m in depth, with 40,247 tons deadweight and 25,006 tons gross tonnage. It is equipped with 6UEC42LSH-Eco-D3 main engine, with a speed of about 14 knots, and classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK).
“OHIRAYAMAL” has a semi-cabin structure with five cargo holds/five hatches, which can carry high specific gravity bulk cargoes such as coal and ore, as well as cargoes such as steel coils, long steel products and grains.
The deck is equipped with four cranes and a folding hatch cover that can be opened and closed from front to back, which helps to save labor and space.
This 40,000 dwt bulk carrier has various equipment and device for satisfying the environmental rule and regulation such as MARPOL convention, ballast water management convention, etc.
Its EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) not only satisfies the current requirement (Phase 2) but also Phase 3 required for ships built in and after 2025. She also has the ballast water treatment system and the Inventory of Hazardous Material as for the Ship Recycling Convention.
In addition, it achieves high propulsion performance by applying the energy-saving devices, high efficiency propeller, low friction paint for outer hull plating.
