Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding completed a dredger height restriction modification project

Recently, a cutter suction dredger “Tianhua” repaired by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, left the shipyard on schedule, with a repair cycle of 86 days.

“Tianhua” is a large-scale cutter suction dredger designed and built independently by China. It has participated in the construction of 16 ports and waterway projects at home and abroad, including Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, Hainan, Lebanon and Myanmar.

It is understood that it is the first time in China to modify limitation height of a dredger. China Communications Construction Company Tianjin Waterway Bureau, the owner of the dredger, decided to carry out height limitation modification, mud pump system replacement and modification, and special inspection and repair, etc., to significantly improve the dredging output and construction efficiency.

Specifically, it includes changing the structure of the cockpit, gantry, chimney, and amidships crane into flange detachable type to solve the problem of crossing the bridge over height. Through the overall replacement of three mud pumps, auxiliary generator, mud pipe system in the cabin, as well as the overall replacement of the pump bilge traveling car, the efficiency of the mud pumps has been increased by 8%, and the mud discharging distance has been increased by 11%.

Since 2023, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has undertaken five repair projects of CCCC Tianjin Waterway Bureau. Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding successfully completed the repair project of Tianhua, which further accumulated the experience of the shipyard in rebuilding the mud pump system of cutter suction dredger and improved the technical level of retrofitting this type of dredgers.
