On March 11, “Zhongyuan Haiyun Jinqu”, a 62,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp vessel belonging to COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. , successfully completed the refueling of 200 dwt of marine biofuel.
It is understood that biofuels are environmentally friendly fuels composed of or extracted from biomass, which can significantly reduce carbon emissions.
On a life-cycle basis, the biofuel can reduce CO2 emissions by about 20% compared to conventional fuel without changing engine specifications.
It is the first time for COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers to complete the refueling of marine biofuel in China, marking another brand new step in the company’s green and low-carbon transformation path.
