DSIC Delivers a 7100TEU Container Ship Before Schedule

On March 11, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), named and delivered a 7100 TEU container ship 50 days ahead of schedule.

Named “ALS JUNO”, it is a conventionally fueled container ship designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). The main engine and generator adopt HPSCR and LPSCR respectively, which meet the requirements of IMO Tier III emission standards and EEDI Phase III standards. And the GHG Emission Rating reaches Class A, which meets the latest emission requirements of NOx, and has significant energy-saving and environmental protection advantages.

With an overall length of about 255 meters, a beam of 42.8 meters, a depth of 24.6 meters and a service speed of 20.74 knots, this series of container ships can carry more than 7100 TEU containers. Adopting all-round lightweight design, it features lower empty weight and higher loading capacity. Compared with other container ships in the same class, it has top load index, good portability and seaworthiness, flexible application range, excellent fastness index, which is classed by ABS.

Meanwhile, DSIC has independently designed a technical solution for ammonia fuel reservation, which is a good technical reserve for the container ship to be converted to ammonia fuel power in the future and to meet the low carbon emission requirements and standards of IMO.

It is understood that ALS JUNO is owned by AL GROUP of Germany and will be chartered to CMA CGM for operation and management after delivery.
