Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Delivers a LNG Carrier

On March 5, Alpha Gas, Greek ship management company, announced that it had taken delivery of the 174,000 m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier “Energy Fortitude” from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. Alpha Gas also said Energy Fortitude will immediately fulfill a long-term charter with a Far East charterer.

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) is known to have built a total of three 174,000 m3 LNG carriers for Alpha Gas, all of which have been delivered between 2023 and 2024, with the Energy Fortitude being the final vessel of the project. The first vessel, Energy Fidelity, was delivered in April 2023 and is currently on a mid-term charter with “a world class far east charterer”. The second vessel, Energy Endurance, was delivered in January 2024.

The three new shipbuildings have a cargo tank capacity of 174,000 m3, are equipped with XDF engines and feature the latest technologies such as reliquefaction systems, air lubrication systems (ALS), twin-shaft generators (PTOs), and air resistance shields.

The Energy Fidelity, is the first LNG carrier in Alpha Gas’ fleet to be propelled by XDF engines.
