On March 5, Hubei Zhijiang Shengmao Shipyard Com., Ltd. kicked off the construction on two 130-meter clean energy demonstration ships.
The 130-meter LNG micro pilot power ship is a demonstration ship of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s 2030 green and intelligent ships for the Yangtze River mainline key technology and demonstration ship development project, with China Yangtze Shipping Group Co., Ltd taking the lead in the demonstration ship application. It can achieve a 97% LNG substitution rate, reducing carbon emissions by 20%, NOx emissions by 90% and SOx emissions by 100% compared to conventional diesel.
The 130-meter methanol dual-fuel Chuanjiang standard bulk carrier is a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s 2030 development project of 210mm bore methanol-fueled marine medium speed engine, led by Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research institute (SMDERI), and China Yangtze Shipping Group undertook the real ship application research of the project. It is the first time for China Yangtze Shipping Group to utilize methanol-fueled power, and verify the corresponding capability of methanol-powered ship in inland river fast-flowing section, which can realize 90% fuel substitution rate and 100% reduction of carbon emission.
